چکیده

Distributed systems with mobile components are naturally modelled by graph transformations. To formalise and predict properties such as performance or reliability of such systems, stochastic methods are required. Stochastic graph transformations allow the integrated modelling of these two concerns by associating with each rule and match a probability distribution governing the delay of its application. Depending on the nature of these distributions, different techniques for analysis are available, ranging from stochastic model checking for exponential distributions to simulation for systems with general distributions. In this paper we explore further the second notion, adding a model of global time to avoid the overhead of frequent local clock updates. We also transfer the notion of stochastic graph transformation system from an algebraic to a general background, allowing an arbitrary graph transformation approach to be used for the underlying system. We present a correspondingly extended semantic model, simulation algorithm and tool. The concepts are justified and illustrated by an accident management scenario which requires a model of physical mobility and sophisticated transformation concepts.

Control of Wheeled Mobile Manipulators with Flexible Suspension Considering Wheels Slip Effects

Wheeled mobile manipulators utilize both the locomotion capabilities of the wheeled platform and manipulation capacity of the arm. While the modelling and control of such systems have previously been studied, most of them have considered robots with rigid suspension and their wheels are subject to pure rolling conditions. To relax the aforementioned limiting assumptions, this research addresses...

Modelling and Decision-making on Deteriorating Production Systems using Stochastic Dynamic Programming Approach

This study aimed at presenting a method for formulating optimal production, repair and replacement policies. The system was based on the production rate of defective parts and machine repairs and then was set up to optimize maintenance activities and related costs. The machine is either repaired or replaced. The machine is changed completely in the replacement process, but the productio...

Proposing A stochastic model for spread of corona virus dynamics in Nigeria

The emergence of corona virus (COVID-19) has create a great public concern as the outbreak is still ongoing and government are taking actions such as holiday extension, travel restriction, temporary closure of public work place, borders, schools, quarantine/isolation, social distancing and so on. To mitigate the spread, we proposed and analyzed a stochastic model for the continue spread of coro...

Reconciling Population and Agent Models for Crowd Dynamics

We propose an approach to the quantitative modelling of crowd dynamics, viz. the behaviour of systems of large numbers of mobile agents. The approach relies on a stochastic process algebra as specification language (Bio-PEPA), and combines stochastic simulation techniques and continuous fluid flow approximation. The approach encompasses the agent modelling viewpoint, as system behaviour emerges...

State-dependent stochastic mobility model in mobile communication networks

We apply finite state-dependent queueing networks to model mobility in mobile communication systems. Although they have been successfully used in the past to model vehicular traffic, state-dependent models have not been applied to mobile communication systems, to the best of our knowledge. The novelty of state-dependent stochastic mobility models is that the congestion phenomenon is explicitly ...
